Wer war Mona Lisa?

Giuseppe Pallanti (geb. 1951), Wirtschaftswissenschaftler in Florenz, stieß bei seinen historischen Forschungen über Landgüter im Chianti zufällig auf den Namen Gherardini und erinnerte sich, bei Vasari gelesen zu haben, Mona Lisa sei eine geborene Gherardini gewesen.

Er recherchierte weiter und begab sich in den Florentiner Archiven auf eine Zeitreise zurück in die Toskana der Früh- und Hochrenaissance. So entdeckte er u.a. das Testament Francesco del Giocondos, in dem viel über dessen zweite Frau Lisa, genannt "la Gioconda", zu erfahren ist, und Dokumente, die belegen, dass Leonardos Vater, ein angesehener Notar, mit Giocondo geschäftlich in Verbindung stand.

Bis zum spektakulären Diebstahl der "Mona Lisa" aus dem Louvre 1911 waren Vasaris Angaben zur Identität der Dargestellten nicht in Frage gestellt worden. Jetzt interessierten sich plötzlich die Presse und die Zunft der Historiker für die schöne Unbekannte. Teils abenteuerliche Thesen machten die Runde, u.a. dass es sich um eine Geliebte Giuliano de' Medicis oder gar ein Selbstportrait Leonardos als Frau handelt.

Pallanti kreist seine drei Hauptpersonen - Lisa Gherardini, Francesco del Giocondo und Leonardo - mit Hilfe der historischen Dokumente auf zwei Ebenen ein: vor dem Hintergrund der politischen und sozialen Verhältnisse im Florenz des 15. und frühen 16.

Jahrhunderts und mit einer überraschend detailreichen Schilderung des Alltagslebens der Kaufmannsfamilie del Giocondo, ihrer Geschäfte, ihrer gesellschaftlichen Stellung und ihrer Kontakte zu den prominenten Figuren der Stadt.

Mona Lisa Revealed. The True Identity of Leonardo's Model

            Reams have been written about the Mona Lisa, as the painting is called by the British and Americans, and the Gioconda, as it is known to the Italians and French. But less known are the events, affections and social relations that took place in the life of Leonardo's presumed model for the painting. She was a young woman from Florence, already the mother of several children, generous and "noble in spirit," according to her husband. 
           For centuries, as the Florentine art historian Giorgio Vasari claimed, the Mona Lisa was considered the portrait of Lisa Gherardini, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo, but the theft of the painting from the Louvre in 1911 and the press campaign that followed ended by bringing the identity of the woman into question, fueling a debate that is still ongoing. 
           The accounts and documents referred to in this book clarify the question, as a result of which it is difficult not to side with Vasari's supporters that the lady in question was actually Mona Lisa Gherardini. 
            The main characters in this story are Lisa, her husband Francesco and Leonardo da Vinci. The setting is Renaissance Florence, a city still rich and home to cultural and artistic movements of international renown. 
            The book is in two parts: the first tells the political and cultural history of Florence; the second is a small fresco of life in the city, in which the lives of Lisa Gherardini and Francesco del Giocondo cross with those of other famous Florentines.

La véritable identité de la Joconde. Un mystère dévoilè

          Mona Lisa, comme l'appellent les Anglais et les Américains, ou La Joconde, comme l'appellent les Français et les Italiens, a déjà fait couler des fleuves d'encre proverbiaux. On connaît moins, toutefois, la vie, les sentiments et les relations sociales du modèle présumé de Léonard de Vinci, cette jeune dame florentine, déjà mère de plusieurs enfants, généreuse et noble d'âme, telle que la définit son mari. 
           Pendant des siècles, comme l'a soutenu Giorgio Vasari, La Joconde a été considérée comme le portrait de Lisa Gherardini, épouse de Francesco del Giocondo ; or, le vol du tableau au Louvre en 1911 et la campagne de presse qui a suivi ont fini par mettre en doute l'identité de la dame, alimentant un débat qui dure toujours. 
          Les témoignages et les documents rassemblés ici éclairent la question, à propos de laquelle - nous le verrons - il est difficile de ne pas se ranger aux côtés des défenseurs de Vasari et de la thèse en faveur de Monna Lisa. 
          Les protagonistes de cette histoire sont Lisa, Francesco et Léonard de Vinci ; le décor dans lequel ils vivent, c'est Florence à la Renaissance, une ville encore riche et d'une richesse largement répandue, traversée par des mouvements culturels et artistiques d'envergure internationale. 
           Ce livre se compose de deux parties : la première est consacrée à l'histoire de Florence, du point de vue politique et culturel ; la seconde est une petite fresque de la vie florentine, dans laquelle l'histoire des deux époux Lisa Gherardini et Francesco del Giocondo croise celle d'autres personnages célèbres de la ville.

La vera identità della Gioconda. Un mistero svelato

           Su Mona Lisa, come la chiamano gli inglesi e gli americani, o su La Gioconda, come la chiamano i francesi e gli italiani, sono stati scritti i proverbiali fiumi d’inchiostro; meno noti sono la vita, gli affetti e le relazioni sociali della presunta modella di Leonardo: una giovane donna fiorentina, già madre di diversi figli, generosa e dall’animo nobile, come la definì il marito. 
         Per secoli, come sostenuto dal Vasari, La Gioconda è stata considerata il ritratto di Lisa Gherardini, moglie di Francesco del Giocondo, ma il furto del dipinto avvenuto nel 1911 e la campagna di stampa che ne seguì, finirono per mettere in discussione l’identità della donna, alimentando un dibattito che dura tuttora. 
          Le testimonianze e i documenti qui raccolti sembrano però chiarire la questione, a proposito della quale – come vedremo – è difficile non schierarsi con i sostenitori del Vasari e della tesi a favore di Monna Lisa. 
          I protagonisti di questa storia sono Lisa, Francesco e Leonardo, e l’ambiente in cui vivono è quello della Firenze rinascimentale, una città ancora ricca e di una ricchezza diffusa, attraversata da movimenti culturali e artistici di risonanza internazionale. 
         Il libro si compone di due parti: la prima è dedicata alla storia di Firenze, dal punto di vista politico e culturale; la seconda è un piccolo affresco di vita fiorentina, in cui le vicende dei due coniugi Lisa Gherardini e Francesco del Giocondo si intrecciano con quelle di altri personaggi celebri della città.

朱塞佩·帕朗第出生于意大利托斯卡纳的格雷维,生活并工作在佛罗伦萨,现在是佛罗伦萨“天才”旅馆学院的法律和经济学教师。他热衷于历史研究,特别是有关十六、十七世纪托斯卡纳乡村的研究。他基于自己对佛罗伦萨历史档案的研究,找到了有关丽莎·盖拉尔第尼及其丈夫弗朗切斯科·德尔·乔贡多生平和婚姻的珍贵资料,还原了他们的生活,并支持了瓦萨里的论点,即莱奥纳多·达·芬奇的名画“蒙娜丽莎”中所画的人物就是丽莎·盖拉尔第尼。
